The National Health Service (General Medical Services Contracts)

The National Health Service (General Medical Services Contracts) Regulations set out in regulation 25 the circumstances where a fee may be charged to an NHS patient.

This regulation confirms that GP providers are permitted to seek fees for services such as those listed below:

  • Medicals for pre-employment, sports and driving requirements (HGV, PSV etc.)
  • Insurance claim forms
  • Private letters
  • Prescriptions for taking medication abroad
  • Private sick notes
  • Vaccination certificates
