Clinics We Offer
Ante-natal Clinic
We provide a full range of antenatal and postnatal care. Clinics are run by the Community Midwife and held on Thursday - please contact reception to make an appointment.
Child Health Surveillance Clinics
Dr Wasima Mandal perform routine developmental assessments on all of the children at the age of 8 weeks in the practice, in co-operation with our health visitors in Wednesday morning. First immunisation will also be given on the same day by the nurse.

Cervical Smear Clinic
All women between the ages of 25 and 64 years are advised to have a cervical smear every three to five years, regardless of their sexual history. These smear tests detect any early changes that might lead to cancer later on. The routine appointments are offered throughout the week with the practice nurse.
Family Planning
A full range of contraceptive services is available by making an appointment with one of our qualified family planning nurses. We also provide the service for implants and coil fitting in the surgery by highly trained doctor, we also provide this service for other local GP Practices. Please contact reception for an appointment.
Respiratory Clinic
Asthma and COPD clinics are run by our trained nurses. You can make your own appointment with the nurse or your doctor may refer you. Advice is given about inhaler technique and home monitoring of asthma using peak flow meters and chart readings. Medication is adjusted where appropriate. Our aim is to get you actively involved in the management of your disease through greater understanding of Asthma, or COPD, to enable you to lead a healthier life.
Coronary Heart Disease Clinic
CHD clinics are run by our trained nurses. You can make your own appointment or your doctor may refer you. Advice is given about lifestyle and diet. Medication is adjusted where appropriate. Our aim is to get you actively involved in the management of your disease through greater understanding of heart disease to enable you to lead a healthier life.
Diabetic Clinic
These clinics take place on various days at each surgery. It is for the monitoring of patients with diabetes, to check control and prevent the complications of diabetes. The better you understand your diabetes the more complications are minimised and quality of life maximised. All our diabetics have annual checks by our chiropodist and an annual eye examination. Ask at reception for details.
Hypertension Clinic
High blood pressure for a long period increases the risk of heart attacks and strokes. This risk can be reduced by controlling blood pressure - we have a programme of assessment including blood tests, urine tests and ECGs. There are several clinics a week for checking of blood pressure. Speak to reception to arrange an appointment.
NHS Health Check Up
All men and women above 40 years of age are entitled for a 5 yearly general health check. Routine appointments are offered throughout the week with the Health Care Assistant
Medication Review Clinics
Comprehensive reviews are available with our practice pharmacist on Tuesdays and Thursday. If you’re fed up of taking so many tablets, can't remember why you take them, can't remember how many to take or have any other questions please contact the practice in the normal way and make an appointment.
Minor Surgery Clinic
This service is available to patients after being referred by their doctor. Procedures available:
- Joint injections
- Removal of lumps and bumps (cautery or excision)
Lockstown Practice carry out Annual Learning Disabilities Health Checks. Our team will contact these patients with their appointment details.
